It is rumored that rosé was invented in Provence. At the very least, it was brought to the region by the Romans who planted their vines centuries ago. The Templars developed agriculture in the region, which experienced tremendous economic growth shortly before the Napoleonic era. The kilometers of ‘restanques’ (traditional walls made of local stones), and the remains of drainage and irrigation systems dating from that time are still a sign of this. Even to this day, they are seen all over the estate. Generations of winegrowers have perpetuated this rich past, selling their crops to a local trader. In 2019, Château Favori renewed this tradition of excellence, by launching its first cuvée. Château Favori is in the heart of “Provence Verte”. The region’s clay-limestone soil is ideal for its vines. The Mistral wind which sweeps through it purifies the harvests. The Sainte-Baume massif shields it from the Mediterranean winds: cool nights balance the hot, sunny days. The vines are therefore never under stress, which ensures the freshness of the grapes is preserved. The philosophy of Château Favori for the cultivation and production of its wine is simple: ensure that nature has the optimal conditions it needs to provide the best it has to offer. To implement this vision they cultivate organic and in symbiosis with the land. They reconstructed and modernised the traditional irrigation and drainage systems, and use the energies and resources of the terroir in a sustainable and intelligent manner.
