Angaston, France
An homage to the painter of "La Belle Dame Sans Merci", capturing the spirit of the Gaelic Banshee, an ancient creature who wiped blood from fallen heroic in battle and heralded the journey into the afterlife. Painting appears on the 1858 "Ancestor Vine" straight Grenache project label. Rheam was a member of the band of romantic artists called the Pre-Raphellite Brotherhood. Other labels in the romantic artist series are John Millais, William Hunt, Danté Gabriel, Elizabeth Siddal, Ford Maddox-Brown.
Pirate Cru is a small-batch winemaking duo with leases in Light Pass and Vine Vale (serious reds, of course). Traditional methods, real oak, real sheds, real chooks, real glass, etc.
White winemaking projects are fun and wonderful, with fruit sourced under the guidance of Neville Falkenberg (ex-Penfolds, spearheaded the Yattarna). Venezia-Friuli / Georgian influence, more intricate and delicate than mowed down into stainless silos, freshly fermented fruit in bottle.
